The Band
MJ has played with many musicians and many great musicians have played and sang on all of MJ's song productions mostly produced in Nashville Tennessee. Artists like Kerry Marx, Ron Wallace, Diane Jentes, J.C. Ward, just to mention a few. “The Hard Rock Lemons", have been composed of several artists through the years and some of those great players have been Bobby Johnson, Jim Chalmers, Jim Harpring, Eagle Tousey, Jack Talpos, and many more. MJ currently plays in a duo featuring good friend and fellow solo musician, singer, and songwriter Matt Manning.
A Little Taste of MJ Wicker
MJ went to Nashville at the invitation of a great songwriter, Chuck Howard, Sr. "I met Chuck at a Holiday Inn that my mother was managing in Orlando, FL. We sat up till 4 in the morning playing songs and me mostly listening to his stories about Conway Twitty, Kris Christopherson, Merle Haggard and more". "It was early 80's and I was set up to do this full blown session in this great studio on 16th avenue with these great players, produced by Chuck himself when he had a massive heart attack". MJ says that before he died, Chuck told him to never give up and to keep writing, producing and performing. Never quit, and he says he never has. 3 CD compilations later, those being, "A Face You Can't Say No To", "You Can Win At This Game", and "Live From Paradise".
MJ still continues to write and says he is ready to do number 4 which will be entitled, "Time To Go Find An Island", a very popular song he now performs and hopes to turn into a video. While he has returned to his teenage roots on the Treasure Coast of Florida, MJ continues to perform as a solo artist at many ocean and riverside venues in and around Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Fort Pierce, however, he has played with his band, "MJ And The Hard Rock Lemons", at various street dances, art shows and concerts from Key West to New Smyrna Beach. The band played a stent at the famous "Margaritaville" in Key West and opened up for the "Belamy Brothers", as well. MJ recently divorced, stays closely involved with his children Molly and Mackenzy, stating that if he could make a living being a father on a daily basis, that is what he would be doing indicating that they are his life's treasures. You can see "Mac" with his trade mark Panama Jack hat playing the bongos and Molly singing duets with MJ at many of the venues he plays. "the music gene of the Wicker family clearly continues in my children, it doesn't get any better than playing music with my kids"
